Marcel Dettmann

Marcel Dettmann is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in contemporary techno. Known for his deep ties to iconic places such as Berlin, Berghain, and Hard Wax, Dettmann has remained true to his roots while continuously pushing the boundaries of electronic music, seamlessly blending art with the underground scene. Active since the mid-90s, Dettmann has consistently sought new ways and inspiration to evolve his unique sound. Through his labels MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records) and Bad Manners, he has shaped his musical vision and launched fresh talent into the techno world. His own releases, including three albums on Ostgut Ton and his recent return after ten years with Fear of Programming on Dekmantel, exemplify his timeless yet innovative approach. Beyond the club, Dettmann has established himself as a multi-faceted artist, contributing to various projects such as sound design for exhibitions and collaborations with choreographers and filmmakers, including the soundtrack for The Matrix Resurrections (2021).
